Saint Bernardino Realino (1530–1616) was an Italian Jesuit priest known for his deep humility, wisdom, and extraordinary compassion for the poor. Before entering religious life, he studied law and served in public administration, enjoying a successful career. Yet God was calling him to something greater.
After joining the Society of Jesus, Bernardino devoted his life to preaching, hearing confessions, and caring for the sick and needy. He became especially beloved in the city of Lecce, where countless people sought his counsel and prayers.
St. Bernardino was known for his gentleness and patience. He spent long hours in the confessional, helping sinners return to God’s mercy. His life reflected a deep love for Christ and a sincere desire to bring souls closer to heaven.
He reminds us that holiness is often found in humble daily service, patience, and charity toward others.
