Saint Nicholas of Flüe, also known as Brother Klaus, was a Swiss hermit, mystic, and peacemaker who lived in the 15th century. He was born in 1417 in Switzerland and lived much of his early life as a farmer, husband, and father, raising a large family with deep faith.
Despite his responsibilities, Nicholas always had a strong love for prayer and a desire for a deeper union with God. With the consent of his wife, he later left his home to live a life of solitude as a hermit. There, he dedicated himself completely to prayer, fasting, and seeking God.
People from all over came to him for spiritual guidance. Though he lived in silence and simplicity, his wisdom helped resolve conflicts and bring peace. He is especially remembered for helping prevent a civil war in Switzerland through his counsel and prayer.
Saint Nicholas lived a life of great sacrifice and holiness, showing that whether in family life or solitude, one can follow God with total dedication.

and remain close to Christ each day.
