CV NEWS FEED // Arkansas lawmakers have decided to allocate $2 million in grants to charities that offer life-affirming support to women facing unplanned pregnancies as part of the state’s 2025-2026 budget.
Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed House Bill 1202 into law Aug. 22, according to her office. Thirty-two legislators voted in favor of the bill, where 2 abstained from voting and one rejected the bill.
An April 16 article from Family Council said that the bill will assist in funding pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes, and adoption agencies. HB 1202 also allows the state to fund charities that promote the well-being of mothers and unborn children by offering prenatal vitamins, counseling, and referrals to community-based nutritional services like food banks and food distribution centers, according to the article.
Supporting pregnancy resource centers, the article said, is an avenue to make abortion unthinkable, because they give mothers the support they need to choose life. Pregnancy Help News noted that the bill’s grant money will not be allocated to abortion providers or their affiliates.
