Major retailers planning to close for Easter 2025

CV NEWS FEED // Several major retailers, including Lowe’s, Costco, Sam’s Club, and Target, are closing most of their stores for Easter Sunday, according to the Grants Pass Tribune.

The Tribune described the widespread one-day closings as a “retail blackout.” The closures will allow employees to spend time with their families celebrating Christ’s Resurrection.

Warehouse retailer Costco, which has 617 stores nationwide, announced it is allowing its 310,000 employees the day off for the Christian holiday. Sam’s Club, another membership-based warehouse, is giving employees at its 599 stores the holiday off work.

Other major retail chains that are closing retail spaces nationwide on Easter include Aldi, Publix, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls, according to the Tribune.

Aldi, which owns more than 2,489 stores in the United States, and Target, which has 1,978, will close their doors that day

Stores that will stay open on Easter include Walmart, Home Depot, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, and Kroger chains. Some of these stores’ locations will have reduced hours.
