Holy See Press Office says Pope Francis’ lungs are improving

CV NEWS FEED // Pope Francis’ health condition remains stable, with signs of improvement in his lungs, according to the latest update from the Holy See Press Office.

Vatican News reported on the April 1 press office update, noting that the Pope is in good spirits and has been able to continue working at his desk while recovering at Casa Santa Marta. Each morning, he also concelebrates Mass from his residence.

“His motor skills, breathing, and the use of his voice continue to show improvement. High-flow oxygenation is used mainly at night and as necessary,” Vatican News reported.

Though Pope Francis will once again not hold the Wednesday General Audience he usually attended before falling ill, the Vatican will release the text of the prepared catechesis he would have read in person.

He is also scheduled to prepare a homily for the April 6 Mass for the Jubilee of the Sick and Health Care Workers. Updates on the Sunday Angelus will be announced April 4.

Vatican News reported that the press office said it is too early to say whether the Pope will be able to participate in Holy Week ceremonies.
