New polling reveals massive gender divide among young voters

CV NEWS FEED // New data reveals a widening political divide between the sexes, with young men shifting sharply to the right while young women continue to drift further left.

According to post-election polling from Blue Rose Research, 18-year-old men were 23% more likely to support President Donald Trump than women their age – a dramatic gender gap drawing attention from both parties. By contrast, the gap shrinks to just 10 points among voters aged 50 to 100.

Conservative election analyst Christian Heiens highlighted the trend on X, saying, “For all age brackets in the US, the partisan gender gap is around 10 points. For those under 25, it’s not a gap. It’s a chasm.”

Last week, liberal commentator Ezra Klein addressed the divide during a podcast interview with David Shor, head of data science at Blue Rose Research and a leading Democratic strategist.

“If you look at people who are under the age of 30, the gender gap has exploded,” Shor said. “A lot of people talk about the Democratic young men problem, and I think it’s still somehow underrated because the actual numbers are just a lot worse than people think.”

Shor warned that the divide isn’t limited to the US, calling it a “global phenomenon” as similar ideological splits between young men and women emerge in places like the U.K., Canada, and Norway.

In a recent social media post, Shor added that “young people have gone from being one of the most progressive generations to one of the most conservative,” a shift primarily reflected in the voting patterns of young men.

The polling comes as the Democratic Party faces historic lows in public approval. A CNN poll released last week found the party’s favorability has fallen to just 29% – the lowest level recorded by CNN since it began polling in 1992.

Political commentator Varad Mehta underscored the trend on X, noting, “Just 63% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents report a favorable view of their own party. Oof.”
