Vatican: Pope Francis continues to improve, concelebrates Mass on Solemnity of St. Joseph

CV NEWS FEED // Pope Francis’ clinical condition is continuing to improve, and he concelebrated Mass for the Solemnity of St. Joseph, the Holy See Press Office reported March 19.

The statement, posted on X, adds that the Pope is making progress with motor and respiratory physiotherapy.

Vatican News included the press office’s entire report, which states the Pope’s doctors say his lung infection is under control, though not yet eliminated, and that the values of his clinical analyses are within a normal range.

The Vatican has not yet made a decision about who will preside over Holy Week liturgies. The Pope spends his days recovering, praying, and doing some work, according to the Vatican’s statement.

March 17 was the first night in weeks that Pope Francis did not need mechanical ventilation, as CatholicVote previously reported, indicating progress in his recovery from his respiratory infection.

The Holy Father was first admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital Feb. 14 for bilateral pneumonia, and has continued receiving treatment there.

PRAY FOR POPE FRANCIS
