CV NEWS FEED // The Fellowship of Christians in Universities & Schools (FOCUS) is offering the opportunity for individuals in parish and college communities to encounter the three Persons of the Holy Trinity through FOCUS retreats.
According to their website, FOCUS is offering coaching and accompaniment for those interested in running a retreat for their parish or college campus.
FOCUS offers five unique retreats that take place over the course of three days. Each retreat is geared toward a certain audience depending on their Christian journey and time of their life.
The Father’s House retreat allows participants to enter into God’s Fatherhood in a new way and to experience His closeness and healing mercy in their daily lives. FOCUS explained the importance of the retreat in contrast to the negative light fatherhood receives through modern culture and original sin. According to FOCUS, this has “warped our view of fatherhood to be one of control, fear, and distrust; and so many are living their lives separated from the care and help of God the Father.”
The Way of the Disciple retreat aims to help participants deeply encounter the person of Christ and the mission He has for their lives. FOCUS aims to teach attendees what it means to live out their calling as a disciple and how to invite others into the journey.
According to their retreat plan, the Sanctifier Retreat will introduce participants to the Holy Spirit through talks, Scripture passages, and prayer periods that will invite them into a “New Pentecost,” rekindling a new “fire” of their spiritual life.
The Rec Retreat is geared toward Christians and non-Christians, starting them on a path of discipleship. The retreat will allow participants to experience the joy of Christian community and the foundational truths of the Gospel.
The Men’s Retreat takes men out on a physical and spiritual adventure into the Christian view of masculinity. In describing the mission of the retreat, FOCUS states that in today’s culture men do not receive a proper vision of masculinity and what it means for them to live it out. The Men’s Retreat will look at the lives of the saints and guide them toward a clear understanding of what it means to live as a man in the world today.
