CV NEWS FEED // In his Sunday afternoon Angelus address, Pope Francis reflected on the value of trials and highlighted the hope to be found through Jesus in hospitals and other places of care.
Speaking on the Gospel reading, which was on the Transfiguration, Pope Francis said that “Jesus immerses Himself in prayer and becomes radiant with light.”
Vatican News reported that the Pope said, “In this way, [Jesus] shows the disciples what is hidden behind the gestures He performs in their midst: the light of His infinite love.”
Pope Francis then reflected that even those who are sick have the ability to similarly become beacons of light in the world.
“Our bodies are weak, but even like this, nothing can prevent us from loving, praying, giving ourselves, being shining signs of hope for one another in faith,” he said.
Pope Francis also contemplated the fidelity of God’s love, reminding the faithful that God “never abandons us” and walks with those who experience trials. He additionally thanked those who have been praying for him during his month-long stay in Gemelli Hospital, especially expressing his love for children who pray for him and visit him.
He concluded his address with prayers for the Church and for peace, especially in “countries wounded by war: tormented Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
