Lent is not only about fasting from food but fasting from habits, attitudes, and thoughts that keep us distant from God.
The Lord calls us to be honest with ourselves. Just as we examine our actions and behavior, God asks us to examine our hearts. Is there something we need to let go of in order to be more open to His grace? Are there areas in our lives where we are withholding love from others or from God? Today, take time to reflect on the power of mercy in your life and how you can be an instrument of God’s mercy to others.
Prayer:
Lord,
As we journey through this season of Lent, we ask for the strength to purify our hearts and minds. Help us to let go of all that holds us back from you. We know that we are weak, but we trust in Your mercy and Your love. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, so that we may walk with humility, love, and compassion towards others.
May we offer ourselves to You today in prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, that we may grow closer to You.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
