CV NEWS FEED // Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, pledged March 10 to dedicate its prayers throughout the month for the conversion of the Satanists planning a so-called “black mass” at the Kansas State Capitol and for a renewal of faith across the state.
The Catholic college announced that its weekly Holy Hours, Rosaries, and Memorare prayers this month will be offered specifically for those involved in the planned sacrilegious event. The Bishops of Kansas had previously urged Catholics to respond with prayer and reparation, a call that Benedictine College is now amplifying.
As CatholicVote previously reported, the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP) is leading public opposition to the event, organizing a petition and a “rally of reparation” outside the Capitol March 28.
TFP’s petition urging Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly to stop the event has gained more than 30,000 signatures as of the publication of this article.
Benedictine College President Stephen D. Minnis reaffirmed the power of prayer in the face of this attack on the faith, citing Pope Francis’ reminder that “our greatest battle is a spiritual one against evil” and that the Church has been given powerful spiritual weapons, especially the Eucharist and the Rosary.
Minnis also pointed to the work of Benedictine alumnus Bishop Andrew Cozzens, leader of the National Eucharistic Revival, and noted that Benedictine College’s weekly Holy Hour, originally begun in support of the revival, will now be dedicated this month to the conversion of those involved in the “black mass.”
“The college also believes in the power of the rosary,” he said, “and will dedicate the Wednesday Rosaries I lead throughout March for the same intention.”
Beyond these commitments, Minnis has called upon the college’s “Memorare Army” to pray 10 Memorares daily to Our Lady of Guadalupe throughout the month, specifically asking for her intercession in this situation.
