(March 8, 2025)
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:21).
Today, we pause to reflect on our relationship with God and the ways in which we seek fulfillment in the wrong places. It’s easy to get caught up in the rush of daily life, focusing on what the world tells us we need for happiness: success, recognition, material wealth, and pleasure. But Lent calls us to slow down and examine what truly matters.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus reminds us that our hearts should not be attached to worldly possessions (Matthew 6:19-21). Instead, we are called to lay up treasures in heaven, where our hearts will be. This means living with a deeper awareness of God’s love, embracing humility, and serving others. It’s about aligning our desires with His will and letting go of anything that distracts us from that call.
Unless there is a Good Friday in your life, there can be no Easter Sunday. -Fulton sheen
Prayer:
Lord,
As I journey through this season of Lent, help me to reflect on the things I hold most dear. Show me where I may have become too attached to the things of this world and guide me back to You.
Help me to prioritize my relationship with You above all else, knowing that true fulfillment is found only in Your love.
Grant me the strength to let go of distractions, and the wisdom to embrace simplicity and humility. May I use this time to grow closer to You and deepen my faith, trusting that You will fill my heart with lasting peace.
In Jesus name, We pray. Amen
