Ash Wednesday

“Blow the trumpet in Zion; sanctify a fast.”

“Call a solemn assembly; gather the people.”

Ash Wednesday is here – when the Lenten season of prayer, fasting, and sacrifice begins. Today, the Church calls us to reflect, renew, and draw closer to God.

Lent is a time for personal penance, but it’s also a time for the renewal of our Church and our homes – including our homeland. And it all begins today, in our own hearts, as we embark on this Lenten journey.

Today’s readings remind us of our broader mission: We must restore Catholic values to our country: “Return to the Lord, your God.”

CatholicVote’s mission extends far beyond fighting for policy changes – it’s about infusing Christ’s truth into every corner of society. This isn’t just a political battle. It’s a spiritual battle.

Because some things can only be defeated with prayer and fasting.

Every day, we pray, fast, and fight to save our beautiful homeland, the United States of America. To build a nation in which faith, freedom, and family flourish. And God has blessed your efforts.

I was struck by the recent Pew study indicating the decline of self-identifying Christians across all demographics appears to have halted. Not only that, young men are returning to the faith in significant numbers.

That’s right: Young men – who have traditionally been less engaged in religious practice – are increasingly identifying with the Church.

This is a hopeful trend for Gen Z – these men represent the rising generation of leaders, fathers, and faith-filled individuals who will shape the future of our nation.

Don’t get me wrong: I know a lot of work remains.

But these signs of hope remind us that the sacrifices and struggle we embrace this Lent are having a real effect. The world, though troubled, is never beyond God’s reach. His truth and love have the power to transform hearts, communities, and nations.

This Lent, I’m more hopeful than ever before. So let’s double down. Make Lent be a time of prayer, fasting, and action for America. Because this is a spiritual battle first and foremost.

And we know who wins.

We here at CatholicVote are praying for you – that you will encounter the hope of renewal in this season of profound grace.

Pray for our Church, for our country, and for our mission.
