CV NEWS FEED // Pope Francis again slept well in the hospital, according to the Holy See Press Office, Vatican News reported.
The pontiff, who was admitted to Gemelli Hospital in Rome Feb. 14 for bronchitis, “spent the first part of the morning resting,” stated the article about the Thursday morning, local time update on the pontiff.
“The Pope slept well during the night and is now resting,” a brief statement from the press office said, according to the article.
On Wednesday evening, according to Vatican News, the press office reported that the pope had shown a little improvement since the previous evening.
“The mild kidney insufficiency observed in recent days has subsided,” the update said, according to the article. “A chest CT scan carried out last night showed a normal progression of the lung inflammation. Blood tests conducted today confirmed the improvement seen yesterday.”
The CT scan was scheduled for monitoring the pneumonia, Vatican News had reported.
“The Holy Father remains on high-flow oxygen therapy but has not experienced any asthma-like respiratory episodes today,” the Wednesday evening report said, according to Vatican News. “Respiratory physiotherapy is continuing.”
On Wednesday morning, the pope received the Eucharist, and he worked in the afternoon, the article said.
Bishop Michael Olson, whom Pope Francis appointed bishop of the Diocese of Forth Worth, Texas, in 2014, said, “I think there’s a great deal of concern and also compassion for the person of Pope Francis, who he is,” NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth reported.
Nwanyi Akajiaku, a Catholic woman in Nigeria, encouraged people in a post on X to pray for the Holy Father, saying, “A word of prayer will go a long way.”
