CV NEWS FEED // Pope Francis had a restful 12th night at Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where he was admitted Feb. 14 for bronchitis treatment, Holy See’s Press Office told journalists, according to Vatican News.
The pontiff is resting, the article said.
In its Tuesday evening update, the press office reported that the pontiff’s clinical condition “remains critical but stable,” according to a Vatican News article.
“There have been no acute respiratory episodes, and hemodynamic parameters continue to be stable,” the update said, according to the article.
The pope received the Eucharist in the morning and began working, the article said. In the evening, he received a CT scan that had been pre-scheduled as a mechanism for monitoring the pneumonia.
Archbishop of Los Angeles José Gomez concelebrated Mass Feb. 24 with Father Michael Mesa for the Pope’s health and recovery, as CatholicVote previously reported. In his homily, Fr. Mesa reflected on the gospel reading, which was Mark 9:14-29, the story of Jesus’ healing of the boy possessed with an unclean spirit.
“Let us continue to place our faith in Jesus Christ, who is our healer and our strength as we pray, of course, for our Holy Father Pope Francis and really all those who are suffering for any reason,” Fr. Mesa said. “May we ourselves in our own trials deepen our faith, knowing that with God, all things are possible and all things work for our good.”
