St Joan of Arc Foundation breaks ground on new high-tech Catholic school

CV NEWS FEED // The St Joan of Arc Foundation recently broke ground on its highly-anticipated project to build a state-of-the-art Catholic school in Eastern Iowa, a landmark feature of its One Faith, One Family, One Future capital campaign.

The foundation announced the milestone in the construction of St Joan of Arc Catholic School in a news release following the May 29 celebration, stating that the facility is expected to open in Fall 2025.

According to the foundation’s website, two local parishes in the Diocese of Davenport, Our Lady of Lourdes and St John Vianney, launched building plans for the new school after conducting a study last fall on how to address the “changing needs” of the Catholic community there.

Challenges faced by the diocese include “aging facilities and membership; a shortage of priests; a growing, shifting population and recent changes to how [its] Catholic schools are funded.”

Building plans include facilities for infant care, a preschool, two classrooms for each grade K-8, STEM and Arts classrooms, a commons area and chapel, a high school rated gymnasium, administrative offices, playgrounds, parking, and designated drop off areas.

“Children are the future of our church and our community,” Campaign co-chairs Andrea Sue and Brad Boeye said in a local KWQC report. “We can’t think of a better way to grow the Catholic church and this community than with a new state-of-the-art school in Bettendorf that offers all children a faith-based Catholic education.”
