CV NEWS FEED // The Archdiocese of Louisville in Kentucky broke its own fundraising record this year in the Catholic Services Appeal campaign, raising $4,190,571 for archdiocesan ministries and services.
Archdiocesan newspaper The Record reported that the Catholic Services Appeal goal this year was $4.1 million, which was surpassed by the beginning of April. As the campaign goes until June 30, there are still opportunities to donate to support archdiocesan ministries.
Molly Keene Smith, director of the Archdiocese’s Office of Mission Advancement, shared that some of the ministries and services that the CSA helps fund include seminarian education, music and liturgical ministry, religious education, building maintenance, support for retired priests, and more.
Campaign leader Melissa Herberger said, “We’re hearing more and more that people are inspired by the work the appeal does.”
“We had someone who gave last week for the first time,” Herberger said, according to the Archdiocese. “She was 93 and had never given before. Her son was helping her plan her annual giving and he told her about the CSA. After hearing all the ministries it supports, she wanted to give.”
Herberger added that 10,800 out of roughly 60,000 archdiocesan households have donated this year, which includes children and people up to 97 years old.
