CV NEWS FEED // The Archdiocese of San Francisco has partnered with the National Catholic Bioethics Center to help the faithful understand bioethical issues from a Catholic perspective when dealing with topics such as contraception, euthanasia, and abortion.
According to the Archdiocese’s website, the partnership focuses on sharing guides about such topics with parish priests, who then pass the information to their parishioners.
“The NCBC provides reliable references, thorough explanations, and case-based guidance to form consciences with Catholic teaching when making health care decisions,” the archdiocesan website states.
Over the last two months, the Center has addressed topics like childhood gender “transitions,” vaccine mandates, and in vitro fertilization in light of the Alabama Supreme Court ruling.
Each of the issues is explained in light of Church teaching in a one-page document and inserted in parish bulletins, as well as posted on the Archdiocese’s website.
The Center provides the Archdiocese with numerous other resources, including its three end-of-life guides available for distribution at parishes, and monthly newsletters. The Center also offers opportunities to enroll in courses, seminars, and other programs to learn more about bioethics.
