CV NEWS FEED // An annual conference for young Catholic professionals is set to be held from April 26 to 28 in Frisco, Texas, and will focus on the writings of St. Josemaría Escrivá.
According to the event’s website, the 2024 Young Catholic Professionals (YCP) conference is titled “Workers in the Vineyard” and will explore St. Josemaría’s “everyday spirituality of sanctifying our work with Christ and for Christ.”
“St. Josemaría was often known to say, ‘We have to be contemplative souls in the middle of the world who strive to turn our work into prayer. Married people, single people, workers, intellectuals, farmers… right where they are can and should be good children of God,’” the website states.
The event, which attracted roughly 700 Catholics last year, will feature Mass, opportunities for confession and Eucharistic Adoration, talks, small group sessions, and an evening gala.
“This conference is not just a chance to celebrate but also a chance for us to grow,” YCP founder Jennifer Baugh said in a YouTube video recapping last year’s conference. “We pray together, we celebrate Mass together, we have adoration, we go to confession and ask God for his mercy, and in this way we strengthen each other so that we can go out and be really ready to fight for Christ.”
She continued:
We come together once a year and you can feel the energy—we’ve been missing each other and this is our chance to celebrate our faith, encourage each other, and remember it’s great to be Catholic.
This year’s speakers include well-known Catholics like three-time Super Bowl Champion and kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs Harrison Butker, Matchmakers in the City founders Alessandra Conti and Cristina Conti Pineda, Bishop Edward Burns of the Diocese of Dallas, and Fr. Luke Mata, vicar of Opus Dei for the West.
Registration for the event is currently open online.
