CV NEWS FEED // In his general audience on April 3, Pope Francis showed the crowd a rosary and a small camouflage bible that belonged to a young Ukrainian soldier who was killed in the Ukraine-Russian war and called for prayers for all those who have recently lost their lives in war.
The small bible, which only contained the New Testament, and the rosary belonged to a 23-year-old Ukrainian soldier named Oleksandre, who was killed in Avdijevka.
According to Associated Press News, Francis called for a moment of silence after showing the crowd Oleksandre’s sacramentals, saying he was “thinking of this kid and so many like him, killed in this madness of war.”
During the general audience, Francis also called for a ceasefire in Gaza and a release of those taken hostage by Hamas.
