A news website points out that although it was already known that torture was being carried out in El Chipote, this became more evident beginning in May 2021 when the dictatorship launched a new wave of arrests of opponents, including presidential candidates.
For some prisoners, the lights are kept on 24 hours a day while others are always in the dark; they can’t see their relatives or their lawyers.
