We are faced with the challenge of promoting life. Jesus tells us: “When you go to present your offering at the altar, if there you remember that your brother has something against you, go first be reconciled to your brother; then come and present your offering” (Mt 5:23-24). When Pope Francis asks to defend life, it is not simply to defend life from its beginning to its end, freeing it from abortion and euthanasia. This work of reconciliation includes, for example, improving the situation of migrants, housing, work, and land.
