CV NEWS FEED // The Texas Right for Life recently commended President Donald Trump’s administration for temporarily freezing funds to Planned Parenthood, but encouraged them to permanently defund the abortion giant.
“The redirection of these tens of millions of dollars away from the abortion industry is a strong first step toward fully defunding Planned Parenthood,” Ashlynn Lemos wrote in an April 4 Texas Right to Life article.
However, she explained why the Trump administration should defund Planned Parenthood entirely.
“Planned Parenthood receives about $700 million in federal funding each year,” Lemos wrote. “It’s time for the government to stop using taxpayer dollars to fund the destruction and harm of its own citizens.”
Lemos stated that Planned Parenthood’s problems run much deeper than its embrace of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies that conflict with Trump’s recent executive order.
“Planned Parenthood should not only lose taxpayer funding because of their DEI initiatives but also because they are responsible for over 350,000 abortions each year,” Lemos wrote. “The moral and ethical case against Planned Parenthood goes far beyond policy disagreements — it is about defending the dignity of every preborn baby.”
The Texas organization also noted the irony that while Planned Parenthood claims to stand for DEI, it disproportionately aborts the children of low-income and minority communities.
“The Pro-Life movement will continue to call for an end to taxpayer funding of abortion. This is a moment to celebrate — but it’s also a moment to push forward,” she concluded. “Let’s make defunding Planned Parenthood permanent and ensure that every child has the Right to Life.”
