Pope Francis put on non-invasive mechanical ventilation after ‘isolated bronchospasm’

CV NEWS FEED // Pope Francis was put on non-invasive mechanical ventilation Feb. 28 after suffering an isolated bronchospasm, Vatican News reports

The bronchospasm “led to an episode of vomiting with aspiration and a sudden worsening of his respiratory condition,” the Holy See Press Office reported Friday evening, local time.

Pope Francis responded well to mechanical ventilation and remained alert and cooperative with the treatments, according to the press office, which added that his prognosis “remains reserved.”
