CV NEWS FEED // The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales announced in a June 7 news release that a National Eucharistic Congress, called Adoremus, will take place on September 14 at St. Mary’s College in Oscott, England.
“It has been scheduled to coincide with the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress in Quito, Ecuador from 8 – 15 September 2024,” the news release highlighted. “This enables us to unite in our parishes, and at Oscott, with the universal Catholic Church as we come before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.”
The Congress will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 6 p.m. Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster and the President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, will celebrate Mass for attendees at noon.
There will also be a Eucharistic procession, and keynote addresses given by Sister Margaret Atkins, OSA, and Bishop Alan McGuckian of the Diocese of Down and Connor, Ireland.
The Diocese of Shrewsbury, in the United Kingdom, stated in an announcement about the Congress that the event will be “a day of renewing and deepening devotion to the Eucharist.”
The Bishops’ news release noted, “Unlike Adoremus in Liverpool in 2018, this is not a public event, although each diocese is expected to send pilgrims, approximately a coach-load, as well as Catholics representing the Bishopric of the Forces, the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, and the Syro-Malabar and Ukrainian Eparchies.”
The Bishops are also encouraging parishes to offer Eucharistic adoration on September 15 for Catholics who are not attending the Congress.
As CatholicVote previously reported, the National Eucharistic Congress in the United States is set to take place in Indianapolis, Indiana, from July 17 to 21.
