National Eucharistic Pilgrimages continue moving path through an Oregon desert, a Maryland mountain, and New York City

CV NEWS FEED // The four routes of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage are accompanying Jesus in the Eucharist across the United States through a variety of locations including a desert in Oregon, and a mountain in Maryland on which St. Elizabeth Anne Seton herself walked.

A “Week Two News Bulletin” from the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage received via email on June 5 highlighted where the four routes currently are, where they have been, and where they are headed in upcoming days.

The Eastern St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Route is currently passing through the Diocese of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In late May, this route passed through New York City, where Cardinal Timothy Dolan celebrated Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The Pilgrimage group then processed through Central Park, and then headed towards the Diocese of Brooklyn

The procession also went through Trenton, New Jersey, where Mass was celebrated at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption. According to the News Bulletin, over 1,000 Catholics attended this Mass.

On June 6, this route will arrive on the campus of Mount St. Mary’s University and Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland, which are located on a mountainside upon which St. Elizabeth Anne Seton herself walked. The route will then progress up the mountain to the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

On June 7, Archbishop William Lori of the Archdiocese of Baltimore will celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Assumption in Baltimore. The Pilgrimage will process through the streets of downtown Baltimore before continuing on to Washington, D.C.

The Western St. Junipero Serra Route is currently in the Diocese of Salt Lake City, Utah.

“Our Eucharistic Lord processed by car for about 260 miles of the high desert in the Diocese of Baker in Oregon,” according to the News Bulletin. “In the Diocese of Boise, multiple different parks held a ‘Gathering of Altars,’ where the parishes of the area set up altars for the Eucharist to process between and stop at each one for Benediction.”

The News Bulletin added, “One of the pilgrims reported that, on the drive to Burns, OR, there was a pickup truck pulled over on the side of the road, and a man standing in front of it genuflected as the pilgrims passed by.”

On June 9, Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, Colorado, before processing for a mile through downtown Denver.

The Northern Marian Route is currently in the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, Minnesota, after a seven-mile procession “with hundreds of the faithful from Zumbrota to Pine Island,” according to the News Bulletin.

On June 7, this Route will enter Wisconsin, where Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester will then give the Monstrance to Bishop Gerard Battersby of the Diocese of La Crosse.

There will be a special youth rally in La Crosse for the whole day of June 7 called “The Answer,” where attendants can go to Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, hear from speakers, and more.

Finally, the Southern St. Juan Diego Route is currently in the Diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana.

According to the News Bulletin, while this Route was at a local Catholic church in Texas, “pilgrims and the faithful joined in evening prayer together. One of the pilgrims reported that, as the celebrants processed Jesus around the church, a young girl asked what was happening and blew Jesus a kiss.”

On Sunday, June 2 on the Feast of Corpus Christi, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston celebrated Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica in Galveston, Texas. Thousands of Catholics attended this Mass.

On June 7 this Route will enter the Diocese of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for a procession and a special address given by Bishop Michael Duca.
