Young Catholic Group to Lead Archdiocese of New York Delegation to National Eucharistic Congress

CV NEWS FEED // The Archdiocese of New York recently announced that it plans to take a significant group of young Catholics on a foot pilgrimage to the upcoming National Eucharistic Congress in July.

“Join pilgrims from around the archdiocese as we travel to Indianapolis for the First National Congress in 83 years!” the archdiocese said in a statement, calling young Catholics to join the special youth pilgrimage.

Foot pilgrimages from all over the U.S. will be converging in Indianapolis for the Congress, and the youth from New York plan to walk part of the Northern Pilgrimage, named for St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

The massive pilgrimage from four corners of the country will be a first in the history of Catholicism in the United States.

“This is a pivotal moment in both American history and the legacy of the Catholic Church, and we want young people to be a part of it!” the archdiocese continued. “Jesus Christ will be there. Will you?”

As CatholicVote reported, the Congress will be held from July 17 to July 21 in Indianapolis—and event organizers have specifically encouraged teens and young Catholics to attend.

“Throughout history, revival in the Church has been accompanied by a renewal of faith in the youth. Teenagers face unique obstacles and challenges in our world today, and they have a unique mission field ahead of them,” stated a recent ad for the Congress. “There has never been a better time for young people to become witnesses to the power of Christ’s love and agents of Eucharistic Revival.”

The congress will also feature a special youth conference called Awaken, which will help young Catholics grow closer to the Eucharist through “dynamic preaching on topics relevant to the youth in our Church today,” according to the ad.
