Saint of the Day: Saint David of Wales

Saint David of Wales was a holy bishop, monk, and missionary who lived in the 6th century and is honored as the patron saint of Wales. Known for his deep love of prayer, simplicity, and ascetic life, Saint David dedicated himself entirely to preaching the Gospel and forming monastic communities rooted in discipline and charity.

He encouraged his followers to live simply, practice fasting, and remain joyful in serving Christ. Saint David famously taught, “Do the little things,” reminding believers that holiness is often found in daily faithfulness rather than great public acts.

Through his humble life and powerful preaching, Saint David helped strengthen the Christian faith throughout Wales and beyond.

Did You Know?

Saint David often preached outdoors, and according to tradition, the ground beneath him rose up so all could see and hear him clearly.

Prayer of the Day

Saint David of Wales,
faithful shepherd and humble servant of Christ,
teach us to do the little things with great love.
Help us to live simply, pray faithfully,
and follow Christ with joy and perseverance.
Pray for us, that our daily lives
may give glory to God.
Amen.
