Saint of the Day: Saint Oswald of Worcester

Saint Oswald of Worcester was a holy bishop and reformer who played a key role in renewing the spiritual life of the Church in England during the 10th century. Raised in a noble family, Oswald chose a life of humility and prayer, eventually becoming a monk before being appointed Bishop of Worcester and later Archbishop of York.

He was deeply committed to monastic reform, encouraging clergy and religious to live lives of prayer, simplicity, and obedience. Despite his high offices, Saint Oswald remained gentle, charitable, and close to the poor. He personally served the needy and was known for his patience and kindness.

Saint Oswald teaches us that true leadership in the Church flows from holiness, service, and faithfulness to prayer.

Saint Oswald was famous for washing the feet of the poor and serving them meals himself, even as a bishop.

Prayer of the Day

Saint Oswald of Worcester,
faithful shepherd and servant of Christ,
help us to lead with humility and love.
Teach us to serve the poor with compassion
and to remain faithful in prayer and good works.
Pray for us, that we may seek holiness
in whatever role God has given us.
Amen.
