Saint of the Day: Saints Jacinta and Francisco Marto

Saints Jacinta and Francisco Marto were brother and sister, two humble shepherd children from Fatima, Portugal. In 1917, together with their cousin Lucia, they were chosen by God to witness the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, who entrusted them with a powerful message of prayer, repentance, and conversion for the whole world.

Though very young, Jacinta and Francisco embraced suffering with extraordinary faith. They offered sacrifices for the conversion of sinners and for peace, especially through devotion to the Holy Rosary. Francisco was known for his quiet spirit of contemplation, while Jacinta showed deep compassion for sinners and the suffering of the Church.

Both children died during the influenza pandemic shortly after the apparitions, but their lives continue to shine as a testimony that holiness is possible at any age.

Did You Know?

Saints Jacinta and Francisco Marto are among the youngest non-martyr saints canonized in the Catholic Church.

Prayer of the Day

Saints Jacinta and Francisco Marto,
you who listened with pure hearts to the call of Heaven,
teach us to pray with trust, offer sacrifices with love,
and live faithfully the message of the Gospel.
Help us to grow in devotion to the Holy Rosary
and to seek peace through conversion of heart.
Pray for us.
Amen.
