Resolving to Seek the Lord
Let us begin, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Scripture: “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way.” (Daniel 1:8)
Meditation – Resolving to Seek God First
On this first day of our 21-day journey, we follow Daniel’s bold example. In a foreign land filled with temptation and pressure, Daniel purposed in his heart to remain faithful to God. He chose simple, God-given foods—vegetables, fruits, grains, and water—over the king’s rich delicacies. This was no mere diet; it was an act of surrender, humility, and trust. Daniel set his heart to seek the Lord above all else, knowing that true nourishment comes from God alone.
Today, as we begin this fast, let us resolve the same: to put aside distractions (whether food, habits, or worries) and fix our eyes on Jesus. In simplicity, we make space for deeper prayer, Scripture, and listening to the Holy Spirit. God honors a heart that seeks Him earnestly—He hears from the very first day!
Prayer Focus: Lord, give me the grace to resolve like Daniel—to seek You with my whole heart. Help me hunger more for Your presence than for earthly comforts. Strengthen me through these 21 days. Amen.
