Trump demands apology from CBS after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene criticizes him in ‘60 Minutes’ interview

President Donald Trump demanded a “complete and total apology” from CBS’ “60 Minutes” and correspondent Lesley Stahl Dec. 8 after the program aired an interview in which Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., accused him of betraying the MAGA movement and fueling death threats against her family.

In the Dec. 7 interview, Greene told Stahl that Republican lawmakers are “terrified” to oppose Trump for fear of triggering a “nasty Truth Social post,” adding that she has seen several colleagues privately mock Trump while publicly supporting him.

“I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him [Trump], making fun of how he talks, making fun of me constantly for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024 they all started — excuse my language, Lesley — kissing his ass and decided to put on a MAGA hat for the first time,” Greene said.

She claimed Trump’s repeated public attacks — including branding her a “traitor” after she backed a petition to release the Epstein files — led directly to threats against her and her teenage son. She told Stahl that her home received a pipe bomb threat, and she has received emails threatening her son.

“The subject line for the direct death threats on my son was his [Trump’s] words: ‘Marjorie Traitor Greene,’” Greene said. “Those are death threats directly fueled by President Trump.”

Trump fires back at Greene and CBS

Trump responded in a lengthy Truth Social post, describing Greene as “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown (Green turns Brown under stress!)” and claiming she “went BAD” after being “JILTED by the President of the United States.”

“Marjorie is not AMERICA FIRST or MAGA, because nobody could have changed her views so fast, and her new views are those of a very dumb person,” Trump said. “That was proven last night when washed up, Trump hating, 60 Minutes ‘correspondent,’ Lesley Stahl [interviewed Greene.]”

He also blasted CBS and its parent company Paramount, which his administration authorized to merge with Skydance Media earlier this year. Trump said his “real problem with the show” was that Paramount “would allow a show like this to air.”

The President then revived his long-running feud with “60 Minutes” over his 2020 interview, in which Stahl dismissed his claims about the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop, according to FOX News.

“I hereby demand a complete and total APOLOGY, though far too late to be meaningful, from Lesley Stahl and 60 Minutes for her incorrect and Libelous statements about Hunter’s Laptop!!!” Trump wrote.

He also pointed to Paramount’s July settlement with him. As CatholicVote reported, Paramount agreed to pay Trump at least $16 million following allegations that CBS manipulated a 2024 interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

Greene’s resignation and widening rift with Trump

Greene announced in November that she will resign from Congress effective Jan. 5, 2026. In her resignation message, she expressed frustration with the political system and accused Trump of drifting away from core MAGA priorities.

“We’re still out here saying, ‘We want to see action on areas for the American people, not for the major industries and the big donors,’” Greene said in her announcement.

She repeated those concerns during the “60 Minutes” interview, telling Stahl that while “MAGA is President Trump’s phrase,” she calls herself “America First.”

Greene also criticized Trump’s recent White House meetings with controversial foreign leaders and political figures. She questioned why Trump chose to host “the al Qaeda leader once wanted by the U.S. government, who is now the president of Syria” and meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — whom she said murdered an American journalist — and New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

After Trump’s Truth Social attack, Greene responded on X, insisting that she remains “America First.” She juxtaposed a pair of images showing that she took no campaign money from the American Israeli Political Action Committee, while suggesting that Trump has received more than $230 million.
