Feast Day: November 9 (in some calendars)
About St. Theodore Tyro
Saint Theodore Tyro, also known as Theodore the Recruit, was a young Roman soldier who lived during the reign of Emperor Maximian in the early 4th century. Though he had just joined the army, his faith in Christ was already deep and unshakable.
When ordered to offer sacrifice to the pagan gods, Theodore boldly refused, declaring that he would worship Christ alone. As punishment, he was tortured and burned alive — giving his life joyfully for the faith. His courage inspired many early Christians to remain steadfast during persecution.
Saint Theodore became one of the most venerated military martyrs in both the Eastern and Western Churches, honored for his bravery and devotion to God even in the face of death.
Prayer:
O God, who gave Saint Theodore the strength to confess Your Name with courage, grant us the same zeal and love to remain faithful to You in all trials. Amen.
