Feast Day: September 23
St. Pio of Pietrelcina, better known as Padre Pio, was born in 1887 in Pietrelcina, Italy. He entered the Capuchin Franciscans and was ordained a priest in 1910. Padre Pio became widely known for his holiness, deep prayer life, and extraordinary spiritual gifts, including the stigmata (the wounds of Christ), which he bore for fifty years. He spent countless hours hearing confessions, offering spiritual guidance, and celebrating Mass with great devotion. Despite facing skepticism and suffering, Padre Pio’s humility and obedience shone brightly. He died in 1968 and was canonized by Pope St. John Paul II in 2002.
Prayer
St. Padre Pio, holy confessor and faithful servant of Christ, intercede for us that we may grow in prayer, humility, and love of God. Teach us to trust in the Lord and embrace the cross with joy. Amen.
