St. Bartholomew the Apostle
Today the Church celebrates St. Bartholomew, one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. He is often identified with Nathanael, the man whom Jesus called “an Israelite without guile” (John 1:47). Tradition tells us that after Pentecost, Bartholomew preached the Gospel in Asia, particularly in India and Armenia, where he brought many to Christ.
He remained faithful to the Lord even unto martyrdom, giving his life for the Gospel. His witness reminds us of the call to live with honesty, courage, and total trust in Christ.
Prayer
O glorious St. Bartholomew, Apostle of Christ, intercede for us that we may remain true to our faith, live without deceit, and follow Jesus with a pure heart. Strengthen our courage in trials and bring us closer to the Lord. Amen.
