Signaling a potential shift in immigration and deportation policy, President Donald Trump said June 12 that changes are on the way in response to concerns from American farmers and hospitality leaders.
“Our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
He noted that many of the “Criminals [who were] allowed into our Country” during former President Joe Biden’s term are now competing for those same jobs.
“This is not good,” he said. “We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA. Changes are coming!”

Trump’s comments come almost a week after the start of violent anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) protests in Los Angeles, in which demonstrators have clashed with ICE agents and torched American flags. Media and Democrats have been accused of downplaying or even inciting the protests, CatholicVote reported.
In the wake of the riots, the White House issued a warning to California Gov. Gavin Newsom June 10, accusing his administration of obstructing federal immigration enforcement. White House officials signaled potential legal consequences if state or local authorities continued to interfere with ICE operations.
