Brief Biography:Born Caterina Lucrezia de’ Pazzi in Florence, Italy, Mary Magdalene entered the Carmelite convent at age nineteen. Known for her deep mystical experiences and fervent prayer life, she practiced radical self-denial—wearing a crown of thorns and a hair shirt—to share in Christ’s suffering. Her ecstasies drew many to repentance and renewal of faith. She died on May 25, 1607, and was canonized in 1669. …
