We’ll return to dust but our soul immortal
Sign of Repentance (metanoia), Penance
A sign of Humility, creating space for God
Acceptance of our nothingness without God
A reminder that God created us all
A reminder of God’s transforming power, from dust into human beings
A reminder that change/death is inevitable
A sign of our commitment to self-denial and radical Obedience to God’s will
A sign of Hope in God’s love and Mercy
A sign that we begin the journey of Lent with the Blessed Trinity
