CV NEWS FEED // A recently leaked internal memo from 24 Hour Fitness has become the center of another “freedom of expression” controversy for its progressive, anti-patriotic policies.
The internal documents obtained by The Dallas Express earlier this week revealed that the company’s dress code policies place limitations on when employees are permitted to wear US flags or logos, while wholesale condoning Black Lives Matter (BLM) or gay pride attire at all times.
The May 2023 memo states that patriotic attire can only be worn on holidays, unless approved by a manager or HR partner.
“We’ve committed to creating a more inclusive environment at 24 Hour Fitness, recognizing that we have work to do to become stronger allies in support of those who are impacted by systemic oppression and inequality,” the document states.
The account Libs of TikTok posted a screenshot of the memo on X:
Attire featuring the Juneteenth logo, symbol, or date are also considered appropriate at all times, the memo states, noting that it trusts and expects its team members “to ensure your choices align with our values and uphold our commitment to serving ALL communities.”
The memo further adds that the company “will make every effort, as required by law, to reasonably accommodate team members with a disability or with religious beliefs that may make it difficult for that team member to comply fully with the dress code policy.”
