Today, September 23, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast day of St. Pio of Pietrelcina, lovingly known as Padre Pio.
Padre Pio was an Italian Capuchin priest who devoted his life to Jesus Christ, prayer, the Holy Eucharist, Confession, and the salvation of souls. He spent many years serving the faithful at San Giovanni Rotondo and encouraged people to place their complete trust in God. The Vatican describes him as a man of prayer, sacrifice, and total dedication to the good of souls.
Padre Pio died on September 23, 1968, and was canonized by Pope John Paul II on June 16, 2002. His liturgical memorial is celebrated on September 23.
A Prayer Through the Intercession of St. Padre Pio
Dear Jesus,
Through the intercession of Your faithful servant, St. Pio of Pietrelcina, help me to trust You more deeply and to remain faithful to You in every circumstance.
St. Padre Pio, you devoted your life to prayer, the Holy Eucharist, Confession, and the care of souls. Pray for me and bring my intentions before the throne of God.
Help me to carry my crosses with faith, to seek God’s will in all things, and to never lose hope in the mercy and love of Jesus.
St. Padre Pio, pray for us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in You.
Amen.
St. Padre Pio, Pray for Us
On this beautiful feast day, let us ask St. Padre Pio to intercede for our families, our loved ones, the sick, those who are suffering, and all those who have asked us for prayer.
May we follow his example of deep faith, humble prayer, love for the Eucharist, and confidence in God’s mercy.
St. Padre Pio, pray for us and lead us closer to Jesus.
