Holy Communion brings many graces to the soul. Its chief effects are:
- Union with Jesus Christ
– We receive the living Christ Himself, who strengthens our soul and fills us with His life. - Increase of sanctifying grace
– Communion deepens God’s life within us and helps us grow in holiness. - Forgiveness of venial sins
– It wipes away small sins and imperfections, making our soul purer. - Strength against future sin
– The Eucharist gives spiritual power to resist temptation and avoid falling into sin. - A pledge of eternal life
– Jesus promised: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.”
– Holy Communion is a foretaste of heaven.
