The annual SEEK conference, held by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), will take place Jan. 1-5, and thousands of young people from across the country are expected to attend.
“It will be a tremendous opportunity for our young people to encounter Christ and other young people from around the country,” Bishop Earl Fernandes of Columbus, said about the conference, according to The Catholic Times.
This year’s conference, titled SEEK26, will have three locations: Columbus, Ohio; Fort Worth, Texas; and Denver. Its theme, inspired by Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati, is “To the Heights.”
The Ohio event will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
The SEEK website describes the conference as “a five-day experience where thousands of Catholics come together to encounter Christ through prayer, Adoration, the sacraments, and inspiring speakers. It’s a chance to focus on what matters most, grow in authentic community, and be transformed in your faith.”
Speakers at the Columbus event include Father Mike Schmitz, host of the “Bible in a Year” podcast, and Scott Hahn, a prominent convert and theologian. Denver speakers will include Fr. Mark-Mary Ames, host of the “Rosary in a Year” podcast. Fort Worth speakers include Trent Horn, an online apologist, and Father Gregory Pine, the assistant director of the Thomistic Institute. More information about these speakers and more is here.
Bishop Fernandes says that the conference helps people realize how vibrant the Church is.
“People will see that the Church is young and alive!” he said, according to the Diocese of Columbus. “It will be a tremendous opportunity for our young people to encounter Christ and other young people from around the country. It is another sign of the commitment of the Diocese of Columbus to college students, young adults, and their families. Together we will proclaim the joy of the Gospel!”
FOCUS was founded in 1998 at Benedictine College and today serves more than 200 colleges, according to the Catholic Times. The SEEK Conference was first held in 1999.
The Fort Worth event is sold out, but there are still tickets available for Columbus and Denver. Those wishing to attend the conference can sign up at seek.focus.org/registration.
