Patronage: Theologians, printers, brewers, and seekers of truth.
Short Biography:
Saint Augustine (354–430) is one of the greatest Doctors of the Church. Born in North Africa, he lived a restless youth, searching for truth in philosophy and worldly pleasures. Through the persistent prayers of his mother, St. Monica, and the preaching of St. Ambrose, Augustine experienced a profound conversion and was baptized in 387. He later became Bishop of Hippo and a powerful defender of the Catholic faith against heresies. His writings, such as Confessions and The City of God, continue to inspire Christians around the world with their depth and honesty about the human heart’s longing for God.
Prayer
O God, who inflamed the heart of Saint Augustine with the fire of Your love,
grant that we may always seek You above all things
and find rest only in You.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
