In addition to the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries, John Paul II recommended to the faithful the Luminous Mysteries, which he said brought out fully \u201cthe Christological depth of the Rosary\u201d by including \u201cthe mysteries of Christ\u2019s public ministry between his baptism and his passion\u201d (No. 19). The pope said in the letter that he had no intention to curtail \u201cthe freedom of individuals and communities\u201d to pray the Rosary as they preferred.
