Saint of the Day: Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, Virgin

Feast Day: October 16
Patronage: Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Biography:
Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque was born in France in 1647. From her youth, she had a deep love for the Blessed Sacrament and a desire to belong entirely to Jesus. She entered the Visitation convent at Paray-le-Monial, where she received a series of visions of Christ revealing His Sacred Heart burning with love for humanity. Jesus asked her to promote devotion to His Sacred Heart — especially through acts of reparation, Holy Communion on First Fridays, and the Feast of the Sacred Heart. Though she faced doubt and opposition at first, her faithfulness led to one of the most beloved devotions in the Church. She died in 1690, joyfully united with the Heart of Jesus.

Prayer:
O Sacred Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, make our hearts like unto Yours. Through the intercession of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, help us to grow in love, humility, and reparation for sin. Amen.
